Paper Moon
A moment to unwind in the city.
Perched on the 4nd floor of a building in Nishi-Ikebukuro, Paper Moon is a laid-back bar where guests can soak in analogue jazz records over whiskies like Bowmore and Glenlivet, Tio Pepe sherry, and unpretentious bar snacks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked away on the 4nd floor of a building just off the bustle of Nishi-Ikebukuro, Paper Moon opens its doors to the warm, textured sound of jazz spinning on vinyl records. For years, the relaxed bar has quietly welcomed regulars who appreciate good music and an unhurried drink.
The bottles lining the shelves cater to whatever mood or flavour you are after. Single malts such as Bowmore, The Glenlivet, and Highland Park headline a substantial whisky lineup alongside bourbons like Wild Turkey and Maker's Mark, as well as Scotch and Irish bottles. The backbar also extends to Tio Pepe sherry, Pernod, Heartland and Guinness beers, simple cocktails such as cassis soda, and selections of shochu and sake.
To accompany the drinks, the kitchen turns out homely, understated bar food, from grilled kensaki dried squid and dried ray fin to pan-fried sausages and tamagoyaki. More comforting options include onigiri, warm oden, and bowls of mixed nuts, lending the place a welcoming domestic feel that makes it easy to linger.
Surrendering to the tracks selected by the master, you can quietly cradle a glass on your own or share a low-key conversation with a companion. Opening at dusk from 17:30, it is an inviting retreat whenever you need a peaceful breath of music in evening Ikebukuro.
